Move-Out Cleaning Checklist for Aledo, TX

Two to three weeks before

• Renters: find your lease move-out checklist and the move-in inspection report or photos.
• Sellers: ask your agent what condition the home should be in for listing photos and at closing.
• Book the cleaning for the day after the movers leave. End-of-month dates fill quickly when leases turn over.

Moving week

• Keep water and electricity on through the cleaning date.
• Empty the refrigerator and freezer and unplug nothing until the clean is done.
• Remove everything from cabinets, closets, the garage entry and the attic access areas.

Cleaning day

• Showers and tubs scrubbed, including grout and the tile walls
• Hard-water spots removed from glass doors and fixtures where possible
• Inside vanity cabinets, drawers and medicine cabinets
• Mirrors, light fixtures and exhaust fan covers
• Floors and baseboards

• Closet shelves, rods and floors
• Baseboards, doors, door frames and switch plates
• Ceiling fans, light fixtures and vent covers
• Window sills, tracks and interior glass
• Blinds dusted
• Built-ins, bookshelves and fireplace surrounds
• All floors vacuumed and mopped, including the laundry room and the garage entry

Renters: property managers compare the home with its condition at move-in. They almost always open the oven, the refrigerator and the cabinets, look at bathroom grout and glass, and check the floors and baseboards. Following your lease checklist line by line is the best protection.

Sellers: buyers see the home at the final walkthrough, and an empty house shows everything. Check your contract or ask your agent about the condition expected at closing. A clean house is also a courtesy to the family moving in.

Cleaning cannot fix damage. Nail holes, paint scuffs, carpet stains that need shampooing and broken fixtures are separate from a move-out cleaning. Plan for those early.
